Jack Hirschman Inaugurates National Poetry Month
April 1, 2008

Jack Hirschman, Poet Laureate of San Francisco, growled out a reading of poems from his new book, "All That's Left," to an audience of colleagues from years of social justice struggles in the Koret Auditorium of the Main San Francisco Public Library on April 1 to kick of National Poetry Month. Note that April 17th is Poem in Your Pocket Day.

Art Opening at Otis

Good Day Sunshine in Pierre Valley
March 28, 2008

On Sunday, March 9, I set up a table and an easel outside the Martha & Bros. Coffee on Church Street at Duncan in Pierre Valley and invited people to draw pictures of themselves or other things in the neighborhood to be collaged into this painting. It was a beautiful day to meet lots of friendly neighbors.

The artists who contributed to this painting include Nancy Ware, Charlotte von Hemert, Meredith Karazin, the whole Leary Family, Marilynn Bean, Jack and Rick (both Labradors), Chris Wallis, F. Fox Frohlich, Pam Gill, Mrs. Parculkas, Yevgenia, Nic M D, Jill Barkee, Michael Costa, Pat Gerber, Daniel, Ashlynn, Jeff, Wendy, Wendy, Abby, Lauren "Lboogie" G., Nina Blano, Dylan Miller, Calliope, Lori, Sebastian, Georges, Packman and Cherisha.
Special thanks go to Ivonne and Jaime of Martha and Bros. for being so gracious and to Joshua Packman for his transportation and on-site publicist services.
