Jeff Tweedy Rocks Out
June 17, 2005
marker on paper, 5" x 7"

After seeing Wilco at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, I found a photo by Matt Schwenke to make this drawing of Jeff Tweedy. It was an excellent show - please see my post at 4F.

This is the drawing of the week for June 5-11, 2005.
With the beginning of summer vacation I've made myself busy with painting and taking art classes so that I've neglected my sketchbooks a little bit. I'll be making up for that.

Wilco at the Greek
June 11, 2005
marker on paper, 3" x 5"

Drawing of Jeff Tweedy, lead singer for Wilco, at their show at the Greek Theater in Berkeley. Wilco layers experimental rock on pleasantly nuanced country melodies with edgy poetic lyrics. And they know how to put on a show. More on this at 4F.

Last Day of School
June 10, 2005
marker on paper, 5" x 7"

Members of the extended Galileo family: send me an email and I'll mail you a drawing.

It's the last day of school at Galileo Academy and some students mill about in the courtyard preparing for a camping trip with the JROTC.

It's a happy day for all of us. I look forward to taking several art classes this summer (in: stop-motion animation, combining figurative and abstract painting, sculpture, and adding art to your curriculum).

This is the drawing of the week for June 5-11, 2005.

Something random from a plane flight. I very much appreciate that I was able to watch The Daily Show (best thing on TV) on the flight.

A Lion For Bettie
June 2, 2005
marker on paper, 5" x 7" (gift)

The Galileo mascot is the lion, so that's what I drew as a gift for Bettie Grinnell, the school's secretary. It is Bettie who keeps the school running. She knows the names of every faculty member as well as where they are likely to be at any given time of the day. All school business goes through her. She juggles a million tasks at once, performing each seemlessly with a friendly smile on her face.

This is the drawing of the week for May 29 - June 4, 2005.
