I learned that Aaron Tam is a draftsman for a small architecture firm in the bay area as I waited my turn to talk about my job to Mr. Elizarde's class.

Justin Barker in Court
December 4, 2006
marker on paper, 5" x 7"

Justin Barker stands at a preliminary hearing on battery and resisting arrest charges for interfering with a Fox affiliate's broadcast on Halloween. During KTVU's coverage of Halloween, Barker jumped in front of the camera and said "Fox News is bullsh*t, Fox News sucks" before the camera turned away. The video (which KTVU has pulled from YouTube) shows that Barker did not touch reporter Amber Lee, so the charge of battery is rather ridiculous. Apparently, the police see it as their job to protect the quality of TV news broadcasts. It's all very strange and the blogosphere is abuzz at sfbg.com, DemocraticUnderground.com, and sfist.com.

This is the drawing of the week for December 3-10, 2006.

Some good folks chat at the show and auction of "Collaborate and Create". The art was the product of a "Collaborate and Create" event which also happened at the Soma Creativity Center - a lovely SOMA loft dedicated to the cause of bringing creativity to the social sphere.

Finding the Bony Landmark at the Top of the Spine
June 17, 2006
pencil on paper, 18" x 24"

Keith Hale shows us where to find the "bony landmark" - a spot on our skeletons that tends to stick out - at the top of our spine during an anatomy workshop with the California College of the Arts extended education program. Hale taught the workshop well. Expect future figures on this site to be a little more true to the human form.

This is the drawing of the week for June 11-17, 2006.
