KeepSweet Plays City Sessions at Waziema
January 9, 2008
marker on paper, 9" x 12"

The blues duo KeepSweet played their special brand of dirty blues as the opening act of City Sessions at Club Waziema.

Waziema, with it's excellent Ethiopian food, comfortable bar, and velvet wallpaper, has been a favorite destination of mine for years. I've always loved being in the back room where James Brown, Tina Turner, Billie Holliday and other legends performed in the '70's, but this was the first time that I've seen live music there myself.

Tweedy Hardly Plays Bluegrass
October 5, 2007
marker and pencil on paper, 4" x 6"

Jeff Tweedy of Wilco played the Friday evening show of the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in Golden Gate Park. His solo acoustic renditions of some of my favorite songs were terrific to hear, but I could have done without his pompous stage chatter.

This is a drawing from a distance. You'll see more definitions in drawings from the 2005 Greek Theater Wilco show.

marker and pencil on paper, 9" x 12"

Dan and Shavi, having broken off from the Elegant Clydes, play their first show as a duo with all original songs at the Blarney Stone, a proper Irish Pub in the Richmond. I was a benefit for the film "Death by Corporation" based on the real human rights abuses of Chevron, the most profitable company ever.

This is the drawing of the week for September 9-15, 2007.

Three Hot Chixxx Play at the Blarney Stone
September 13, 2007
marker on paper, 4" x 6"

Three Hot Chixxx, in their first gig, play their unique brand of hyperactive cheerleader punk pop at the Blarney Stone.

It was a benefit for "Death by Corporation," a fictional film being produced by Tony Cruz loosely based on Chevron's pattern of involvement with human rights abuses and murders around the world. Tony became involved in this issue while working with Amnesty International and has read this statement directly to the shareholders.
