A drawing of Dan, Jesse, and the guy at the next table who looked like Jesus on a the table cloth of Pauline's Pizza. It had been years since we'd been there, and it was even better than we remembered. This is the ultimate in California pizza, with fresh organic toppings cooked in a brick oven with a carafe of house wine. And a salad to start.

We all split the salad special, and a pizza that was half vegetarian special and half meat special.

The blues duo KeepSweet played their special brand of dirty blues as the opening act of City Sessions at Club Waziema.

Waziema, with it's excellent Ethiopian food, comfortable bar, and velvet wallpaper, has been a favorite destination of mine for years. I've always loved being in the back room where James Brown, Tina Turner, Billie Holliday and other legends performed in the '70's, but this was the first time that I've seen live music there myself.

Martha and Bros. is a small chain of coffee shops in San Francisco that can be pretty good at being the hub of a neighborhood. This was a nice place to stop for some hot chocolate after feeding a friend's cat in Pierre Valley.

Picked up a few presents on Valencia Street then got a beer and sat out front at the Revolution Cafe with a view of the Make-Out Room. One time, I was at the Make-Out Room and a couple came in and sat at one of the booths near the door, by the bar. They sat there and necked for half-an-hour, then left.
