Fernandez was our chatty guide through the backwaters on Kerela (You may be familiar with this area from The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy). We talked politics and corrected each other's cultural misconceptions over the entire four hour tour and the ride back into town. We also traded drawings.

Hotel Blue Sea Owner

We ate one night at Hotel Blue Sea in the somewhat overrun beach town of Kovalam. We were the only ones there and the owner came over to regal us with tales of his travels and travails.

The Blue Sea website does not properly tout the circulur, Escheresque cottages.

Sara spent a lot of time during the wedding sitting on the stage, not knowing what was going on. Those garlands around her neck are heavy and abrasive.
