On a Saturday night, the 24th Street BART station plaza was taken over by a dance party.

A hundred or so people came together for FlashDance 7 - the latest semi-regular San Francisco Flashmob dance party. Many of the dancers knew what they were getting into, and dressed funky for the occasion, while others were just passing by and joined the fun.

Mia Rovegno likes to bring the audience a full experience. Her new play, The Apartment, incorporates music, dance, and puppetry into a tale of claustrophobic urban alienation. I saw part of a tech run through - including a scene where one character tangos alone to a song that has become very familiar to her neighbors - and I'm intrigued.

The play will be staged as a developing work as part of the Fury Factory theater festival in November 2005, and will be staged again in January of 2006.

Nothing says San Francisco like a Spearhead Show or a good political protest. I look forward all year to the Power to the Peaceful concert.

All who were there will tell you that the 5th annual Power to the Peaceful concert/peace rally at Golden Gate Park was a moving experience. Spearhead has a way of bringing thousands of people together to enjoy the music and good vibes. A .Giant Peace Dove (part of an international project), flew over the crowd. This show was so much more effective than a peace rally where shrill organizational representatives speak at the choir.
