Part of the Gardens of Telegraph Hill diptych.

This is the view from the top of the Filbert Steps, which is known for its community gardens. I've include the mail-carrier in the painting, who, (as is also noted in Mundane Journeys) seems to have both the best and worst route in San Francisco.

The sides of these two canvases are collaged with excerpts from the book, "San Francisco's Telegraph Hill," which provides histories of individual houses through many (often unintentionly) humorous anecdotes.

With the national release of the documentary, "The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill, based on the book by Mark Bittner, more tourists will be trudging up the long statircase to Coit Tower. You can see the parrots depicted at the top of an telephone pole.
